JNS.org – Anti-Israel professor Judith Butler on Thursday withdrew from an event at The Jewish Museum of New York that she was scheduled to address, the museum said.
The March 6 event titled “Wish You Were Here: Franz Kafka” was set to feature several experts on 20th-century literature speaking on the works of Jewish existentialist author Franz Kafka.

Note: Freedom of Speech is vital, so this kind of action is thorny and needs us all to think harder. That said, Ms. Butler often uses these platforms to digress and talk about a lot of hate-filled and misguided anti-semitic ideas. In cases like Ms. Butler's it is probably best to not allow her a wide berth, or solo performance, but rather a well supervised debate forum where her incorrect ideas can be checked in an appropriate give and take. Left alone she, like others, wander into fact free zones, sounding off in an oddly seductive manner. Let's not ban speakers like her, but rather let us be calm and properly educated and informed and meet these angry folks head on.
