In the past few weeks, several reports highlighted the vitriolic backlash that followed a visit by a group of Palestinian students to Auschwitz at the end of March. The controversial visit – apparently the first of its kind – was organized as part of a joint program on Reconciliation and Conflict Resolution with the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany, and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and was led by Al-Quds University professor Mohammed S. Dajani.

The media reports on this visit leave little doubt that Professor Dajani reacted to the abuse and threats directed at him with admirable courage and integrity; it is also clear that he greatly inspired the students who participated in this trip. Moreover, the organizers of this program obviously had only the best of intentions. Yet, it is arguably deplorable that nobody seems to have made an effort to use this opportunity to teach the Palestinian students about the collaboration of Haj Amin al-Husseini with the Nazis. As one of the Palestinian students who visited Auschwitz reportedly noted afterwards: “It is a strange thing for a Palestinian to go to a Nazi death camp. But I would recommend the trip.”

Quite obviously, this student remained completely unaware that when Palestinians visit a Nazi death camp, they have no reason to feel like detached spectators for whom it is somewhat “strange” to come. On the contrary, when Palestinians visit a Nazi death camp, they are following in the footsteps of the man who is nowadays sometimes referred to as “Hitler’s mufti” and they have the chance to understand what this Palestinian ally of the Nazis saw and what he envisaged for the Middle East after the Nazi victory he hoped for. Please CLICK HERE to keep reading

A Day in History: The First Nazi BDS of Jewish Business

NOTE: Happy Anniversary BDS! How sweet! Nice to see you still going strong after all these years. After all, there are still Jews and they have their own Jewish State, so you have a lot of work cut out for you.... 

On April 1, 1933, 81 years ago, the Nazis carried out their first nationwide, coordinated action against the Jews: a boycott of Jewish businesses – today these activities are commonly known as BDS: Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions.

And even today, that Nazi-inspired BDS tactic continues, directed at the Jewish state of Israel.

What is perhaps even worse is when there are Jewish organizations who join in, also calling for the boycott and divestment of Jewish businesses and products made in the Land of Israel – and they have the gall to call themselves Zionists and want to march in the Israel Day Parade.

Palestinian students visit Auschwitz in first organized visit

NOTE: This is the way forward. Not mockery, name calling, Obama bashing, Abbas bashing, BDS shouting matches, nutty "Apartheid Week" on college campuses, vitriolic Commentary pieces, or misplaced leftwing "apology" professors, etc. But simple face to face education, courses, seminars, infiltration of propaganda media with efforts to dispel the fears and the lies and replace it all with truth and understanding? Too naive? No. Harder to do? Yes. 

Visit is part of program that aims to teach Israeli and Palestinian students about the other side's suffering in effort to study how empathy could facilitate reconciliation.

A group of 30 Palestinian students arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau on Thursday, in what is believed to be the first organized visit by Palestinian students to a Nazi death camp.

Just what is wrong with academia these days? If you’ve been reading Tablet, you are surely versed in the grand guignol that is the attempt by clusters of professors in a host of professional associations that have little or nothing to do with the Middle East to single out Israel as the world’s singular source of evil. It’s a fun story to follow, mainly because—as that great poet of power, Henry Kissinger, noted—the politics are so vicious because the stakes are so low. With precision that would’ve made Newton swoon, for every BDS action there is an equal and opposite and much greater anti-BDS action, and unless you’ve got your mind set on becoming a post-modernist, post-colonialist, post-Focauldian doctoral candidate in a second-tier university, chances are you can live a happy and fulfilling life and never give the rumbles of a few nasty and misguided fools another thought.

But BDS isn’t the problem. What should concern us, what is truly harmful, isn’t what a few academic organizations choose to do, but what many academic departments choose to teach. Iran Press TV Provides Platform To Emerging Anti-Semitic Voices

Iran’s English-language satel­lite news net­work, Press TV, which pro­vides a plat­form for some of the most well-known anti-Semites, con­spir­acy the­o­rists and Holo­caust deniers in the U.S., also enables lesser known anti-Semites to gain expo­sure for their views.

Bran­don Mar­tinez, a Canada-based free­lance writer who pro­motes Holo­caust denial and anti-Semitic con­spir­acy the­o­ries, is among the lat­est fringe voices to be pub­lished byPress TV.

Martinez’s arti­cle, pub­lished on Feb­ru­ary 24, 2014, and titled, “Zion­ist excep­tion­al­ism, fears WW2 truth,” is steeped with anti-Semitic claims and bla­tant Holo­caust denial. In his arti­cle, Mar­tinez describes the Nazi death camp Auschwitz as a pleas­ant place where Jews were encour­aged to join in activ­i­ties, such as play­ing in the orches­tra or par­tic­i­pat­ing in “other cul­tural and leisure activities.”

Mar­tinez not only denies the num­ber of Jews who fell vic­tim to Nazi atroc­i­ties dur­ing World War II, but also denies the exis­tence of gas cham­bers and the use of Zyk­lon B in the mass exter­mi­na­tion of Europe’s Jew­ish pop­u­la­tion. To back up these claims, Mar­tinez cites Holo­caust deniers Mark Web­ber and David Irv­ing.

Martinez’s arti­cles are also found on his per­sonal blog, The Thoughts and Writ­ings of Bran­don Mar­tinez, as well as on con­spir­a­to­r­ial anti-Semitic web­sites like Vet­er­ans Today, and its affil­i­ated site Vet­er­ans News Now.
